Our Guest

Who is Habib Muhammad?

A scholar of the noble household of the Prophet ﷺ, raised in the city of Tarim, among the great seats of sacred learning in our time.

Habib Muhammad bin ʿAbdullah ʿAlī al-ʿAydarus is among the prominent scholars and callers to Allah of his generation in Tarim, Yemen. He carries a long inheritance of teaching, daʿwah and spiritual nurturing from the masters of Dār al-Mustafa, where he today serves as a lecturer and Superintendent of the Department of Daʿwah.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Islamic Jurisprudence and Law from the Faculty of Sharīʿah at Al-Aḥqāf University, and has served as an imam and lecturer in the town of al-Shiḥr, and as Superintendent of Abū Maryam Centre for the Memorisation of the Holy Qur'an in Tarim. He is a regular contributor to conferences, radio and television programmes promoting sacred knowledge and the call to Allah.

“Knowledge is light. The intellect is the lamp through which that light travels into the heart, and the heart is what was made to know the One who created it.”

This July marks his third visit to Australia, returning to Sydney by the gracious hosting of Shifa Institute. During this short visit he will offer daily lessons, evening sittings, and gatherings of remembrance, open to brothers and sisters of all ages and backgrounds.

Habib Muhammad is also the author of several works on the inner sciences, including studies on Ramaḍān, ʿumrah and ziyārah, the etiquettes of daʿwah, and most recently his treatise Māhiyatul ʿAql, The Essence of the Intellect, which forms the spine of his after-Fajr lessons during this visit.

For the Seeker

What you will gain.

Five days of sacred company is not measured in hours. These are the openings we pray for, from a teacher who carries the inheritance of the Prophet ﷺ.

i.

Sacred Knowledge

A direct, transmitted reading of Habib's own treatise on the intellect: what it is, how it functions, how it is purified, and how it returns to its Lord. Knowledge studied at the feet of its author is rare.

ii.

Spiritual Companionship

The Prophet ﷺ said that the sitting of remembrance is a meadow of paradise. Sit beside one who keeps that company daily in Tarim, and let the heart catch its scent.

iii.

An Unbroken Chain

A living link to Imam al-Ḥaddād, Imam al-Ghazālī, and the masters of the Bā ʿAlawī way, taught with the same gentleness, adab and clarity their books were written in.

iv.

Practical Guidance

Real questions, real lives. Bring your struggles in worship, work, family, doubt, to a scholar trained to answer with mercy, fiqh, and the wisdom of a long lineage.

v.

Renewed Intention

Every visit of a true inheritor of the Prophet ﷺ is an invitation to renew the covenant: to remember why we were created, and to recommit to walking the path home.

vi.

Community

You will meet the others who answered the call, old friends and new, and leave Sydney connected to a wider circle of seekers across Australia and beyond.
