Announcement to Parents
Assalamu Alaykum. I pray you and your family are well, particularly in this rapidly changing environment as a result of the precautionary measures to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
At QUL College, we have taken this matter with full seriousness, and to reduce any potential risks of this virus spreading amongst our students and in turn their family members, we have taken the decision to continue delivering our classes through online video conferencing.
Although it won’t be the same as our in person classes, it is the only alternative given the situation. This will continue until at least the end of Term 1, and we will reassess the situation over the next few weeks taking into account the evolving national and state health rules for groups of people who gather in enclosed spaces.
You can use either a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet/phone to enter the video meeting. We will initially use the Zoom platform. We have performed some preliminary testing, and insha Allah hope this will be a helpful means to engage your child with QUL College, whilst not presenting any health risks.
Considering we don’t want your child to be looking at the screen for an extended period of time, we will ensure there are regular breaks in between sessions.
You can prepare by downloading the Zoom app here:
Apple Devices: apps.apple.com/us/app/id546505307
Android Devices: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=us.zoom.videomeetings
You will be sent a link for the online class, which once you click, it should take you to the appropriate meeting room.
As this is new territory for many of our students (and teachers!) we ask you to be patient, and insha Allah we can work through any technical issues together.
All our classes will be conducted through this online platform, including Fridays, Saturdays, as well as Arabic.
For our Saturday classes, if you have children in different classes, they will need separate devices. However, boys in Hira and Uhud will be combined online so would only need the one device.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
